
In May 2017, Zack had his first psychotic break and, following, a bipolar diagnosis. During those first few frightening months, Elisa and Zack failed to find relatable, hopeful stories from those who had been through a similar struggle. They decided to create The Manic Monologues to humanize and normalize mental illness. It often takes every ounce of bravery and strength within you, especially when it’s filled with nothing but mess and chaos.

One such example is Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani activist for female education. Her personal narrative of survival and resilience in the face of Taliban oppression has inspired millions around the world to fight for education and gender equality. Developing empathy is necessary for building positive relationships, and it plays a significant role in our personal and professional lives. Telling your story is one of the most authentic ways to build a connection with your audience and potential clients. Sharing experiences holds transformative power for personal healing by fostering a sense of empathy and validation.
